SUN MAY 2, 1999

Leave the shelter with still damp socks hanging from my pack to dry. Today I feel rested and energized. Feet a little better. KIMMEL OVERLOOK is awesome, looking over the beautiful farms in the valley from a rock that juts out of the mountaintop trail. Across, you can see to ROUND HEAD where the trail goes next. From Round Head’s overlook, you look back to Kimmel overlook and the rock slides. I can identify with the PILGRIMS at pilgrim run spring, a colonial water stop dating back to 1742. Its a long but necessary hike off the trail for water. Met up with a through hiker, a group of EMT’s out for a weekend, a couple of weekend hikers and a group of camera shy MENNONITES at an overlook. (They were quite curious about my hike.) PROVIDENCE - someone left a roll of duct tape and 2 granola bars at a trail register. I need tape to hold my boots together. Granola bars were tasty.

Set up my tent near a small stream, hung my food and pack from trees and got a very much needed good nights rest.
